Fisticuffs is a short, aggressive stage that packs a lot of descending into a compact run. Dropping roughly 420 feet in just three-quarters of a mile, it’s one of the steeper stages in the series and rewards riders who are comfortable attacking the trail right from the start.
The trail cuts down the slopes of Peavine through classic desert terrain—loose soil, embedded rocks, and tight turns. Because the stage is short, riders will need to push hard from the gate and keep their momentum all the way to the finish.
The climb to the start of Fisticuffs is 2.21 miles gaining 469 feet. The transfer follows a mix of Peavine doubletrack and smoother climbing trail as riders work their way up the hillside toward the stage start.
It’s a steady climb without major technical sections, but the exposed terrain means riders should pace themselves and stay hydrated before dropping into the stage.
Fisticuffs is a sprint-style stage. Runs typically last 2–3 minutes, so there is very little room for mistakes. Riders who commit early and stay aggressive through the corners will have the fastest times.
