Grass Roots Racing Reno (GRRR) is a small, community-focused mountain bike race series based in Reno, Nevada.
I’m Jeremy Martinez, the person behind GRRR. I’ve lived in Reno for more than 20 years and discovered mountain biking about seven years ago. Like a lot of riders, I got into it because of the trails, the challenge, and the community around the sport. Racing came shortly after.
After spending time around different events, I started organizing small races locally with the goal of making them approachable and affordable for riders in the area. The idea behind GRRR is simple: create well-run races on the same trails people ride every week and make them accessible to anyone who wants to try racing.
The Golden Hour Race Series and the One for All Enduro grew out of that idea. These events are designed to be competitive for experienced racers but still welcoming to first-timers.
To help run the events, I built a timing system called EnduroBro that allows a small volunteer crew to manage races and share results with riders. It started as a tool for these races and has continued to grow alongside the events.
Outside of racing, I work full-time as a registered nurse. Most of the planning, trail scouting, and organizing for GRRR happens during the time I’m not at the hospital.
GRRR exists because of the local riders, volunteers, and sponsors who support it. The goal is simply to keep building opportunities for people to race their bikes and enjoy the trails around Reno.
