📍 Location: Peavine Mountain – Reno, NV

🌵 Terrain: High-desert singletrack / rolling terrain
Golden Fleece is a rolling, punchy stage that stands out from the rest of the series. Instead of a straight descent, this course traverses the hillside with constant elevation changes, short climbs, and fast transitions.
Named after the historic mining area on Peavine, the trail runs through terrain shaped by old mining activity and natural desert erosion, giving it a unique mix of flow and raw features.
This stage is all about maintaining speed across constantly changing terrain rather than simply descending.
The climb follows the Peavine trail network to reach the start of the stage. Expect a mix of dirt roads and connecting singletrack with steady, non-technical climbing.
Like most Peavine routes:
It’s exposed
It’s dry
It rewards pacing
Golden Fleece is a true pedal stage.
Riders will encounter:
Short climbs that require bursts of power
Flat sections where momentum matters
Quick transitions between descending and climbing
The elevation profile shows a rolling pattern, meaning riders who stop pedaling will lose time quickly.
Rolling terrain with repeated ups and downs
Punchy climbs throughout the stage
Fast transitions between sections
Loose decomposed granite surface
Mix of flow and raw trail features
Open terrain with wide visibility
Pedaling efficiently through flat and uphill sections
Carrying momentum over rollers
Quick acceleration after corners
Staying smooth through terrain transitions
No practice laps
Course closed until 5:00 PM
This is a fitness + strategy stage
Riders who manage effort across the full run will do best
Number plates must be clearly visible at the finish
Check with finish crew after your run to confirm your number was recorded

Not the steepest…
But probably the one that hurts the most 😈
